Group Card Spells

If you have a coven or if you practice magick with others, it is really fun to do a group card spell. Everyone picks a face card to represent themselves and then chooses the cards that s what they want. The face cards representing you and your pals go in the center. Everyone then holds a card or cards that represents what they want and holds them in their left hand and in their right hand holds a candle. Going around in a counter clockwise circle everyone would invoke the correct deity of their significator card by saying.

We come forth
with _____(god/dess) ____ Bright
We Will our Desire with all our might
Our Will is made True in Spirit Light!

Like the above spells you would concentrate on what you want to have happen. You end the spell by everyone putting out their candles at the same time and tossing their cards in the center with a yell! Then clapping three times. Don't forget to sprinkle a bit of salt about when finished!

If you want to cast a spell on another, you can do so in a similar way. pick your face card (that represents you the best) Then choose the card you want for the spell, like the five of hearts, then as before, gather the appropriate candle, stone and herb/oil as you will. Next, think of the person you want to cast a spell on and chose a card to represent them, this is called their significator card. Complete the spell the same way as above, except this time you will sandwich the spell card between the two face cards. Face-to-face if it is an attraction/love spell, back to back if you are banishing or cursing this person. Another difference is that you might also invoke their god or goddess image and also the invocation is different. Say something like:

Eye with Eye
Bring to the One
What I Desire
Spirit Cards
Spirit in Me
Spirit in thee
As I Will
So May it Be!

End the spell the same way as the other spells.

A Face Card Spell

Face card spells are easy and effective for getting you things. In casting such a spell, just choose one of the face s that looks like you (or someone you wish you were more like,) and then pick the cards that you want to have and lay them face down on top of the face cards.
Then put the Sophia card above the cards that you picked.
Use the candle, herb or oil, and stone that goes with the card that fits you, say you are the Queen of Hearts. Banish the room by putting the appropriate oil or herb in the four directions, North, East, South, and West. Next light the candle and focus on the Sophia card, then visualize that you are the Queen of Hearts and the deity that she corresponds with (this could be, for example, Venus again). Then say something like:

Eye to Eye
Bring to me
What I Desire
Spirit Cards
Spirit in Me
As I Will
So May it Be!

Then visualize what you want to happen and put the stone in a secret place. The Stone, Candle, and Cards are now charged up and you can do this spell any time with the same tools.

Simplest Card Spell

Take a card and write on a nice piece of paper what you want or what you what to get rid of and place the card on top of it. Burn Circle it three times with incense and say:

Spirit of Cards(s)
Hear now me
This is my Will
(Say desire)
So may it be!

At this point you should call upon the appropriate Spirit that rules the cards you are using if you really want your spell to succeed in a positive manner.
To do this chose one of the gods or goddesses that correspond with the primary suit that you are using in your spell- look in the book for this. If you pick the five of hearts, for example, then you would pick one of the deities that is listed in this book under any of the face cards for that suit, whatever seems right. So for hearts you might pick Neptune, Hathor, Venus, Helen. etc. etc. Just chose the one that seems appropriate for you.
Ask one deity to aid you, never pick more then one for a spell. It is also a good idea to learn a bit about the deity that you are using so you are sure this is what you want to bring into your life. Remember that you do not have to use a god or goddess, that is up to you. It is a good idea, though, to include a goddess or god for help and protection. If you are Christian you would choose Mary or a saint, of course.
You simply call upon the deity as you wish, like so:

Oh Venus, Goddess of Love
Bring my Lover back to me
Thank you lovely Goddess!
By this card spell - So may it Be!

The spell ends in the same way, again you need to clap your hand three times and blow out the candle. At the end of the spell burn the request. Then scatter a pinch of salt to get rid of all lingering energies.

Then place the oil, herb, or flower to the left of the card. Again, if you picked the Five of Hearts you would chose either a white Daisy flower or Neroli oil. Brush yourself and the candle with either. Then Light the candle and meditate on what you want to happen. Clap your hands three times, and Say these words, or something like them:

Card of power, card of meaning
Let me give you now this greeting
I have a desire that I know is true
Here is my request that I give to you.
( say out loud what you want)
Card of power - Make it True!

Clap your hands three times and then blow out the candle. At the end of the spell burn the request and say the following, or something like it:

Card of Will, Card of Power
Thank you for granting my desire
For helping me do what I Will do
Now my wish will come true!

If it is something you wanted to banish then say:

Card power thank you for banishing all ill
Obstacles are gone, my need you fulfill
So I want and so I Will!

Again you need to clap your hand three times and blow out the candle.

You should burn this candle for one week until it the spell finished. Do not remove any of the objects for one week. At that time the candle should be burned until it is gone. At the end of the spell, burn the paper with the request on it or bury it in the garden. Do the same with the flower or plant if you used one.
After the spell is finished, place the stone in your pocket- this is your power protection/wish-fulfilling stone and will help you. You can use any of the ingredients again except for the candle, that is a one shot deal.
The best times for doing wish spells is leading up to the full moon to bring into your life what you want. The hearts and diamonds do well naturally in a full moon. The week leading up to the dark of the moon is good to get rid of what you do not want. The clubs and spades do well in the time naturally leading up to a dark moon, the hearts and diamonds lend themselves to the waxing moon. However, it is all right to use any or all the cards for either moon, full or dark. It is just up to you to pick the right ones if you want to get something or want to get rid of something.

. An example would be if you used the five of hearts you would chose one of the statements listed under the five of hearts in this book and write your choice on the paper, changing it as you will. Then place the paper horizontally on a table you have first blessed- just a bit of salt and a chant or prayer will do it- then cover the paper with the actual card or cards. Next, pick a candle color that goes with that card and place it in a holder on the table behind the card(s) and on the paper. The color candle will be indicated in the phrase describing that card. If you picked The Five of Hearts for your spell, then the candle color would be dark pink. Then place the indicated stone to the right of the card, if you like. It isn't absolutely necessary but it adds a nice kick to the spells! If you picked the Five of Hearts, then the stone would be Pink Tourmaline.

Here are some simple formats for card spells. There will be other card spell systems later in this book, but these illustrate the simplest and easiest ways to do card spells and they may be all you need!
When using any of the card spells below, pick one of the cards or a combination of any of the cards that you want to use. Set them aside. This is the most important point.
Take a piece of parchment paper or any other kind of paper that you find pleasing. Chose the appropriate color if you like. Be creative!
Write on the paper using a pen that you only use for spell casting. Print the corresponding sentence that goes with the cards which embodies the desired effect that you want.

If you have a plan you want to accomplish, then look in this book at what the cards have to offer. Say you want to bring more joy into your life, then pick a card that represents what you want.
You will notice that each card will want to provide more then one meaning. How is the card suppose to know what it is that you want? You, of course, noticed that the (for example) two of hearts has more then one combination of results that you can achieve. There is a really simple way to chose the aspect of the card you want in a spell card: Say out loud three times what you plan to use the card for. You are focused and putting the message out there that needs to be told. You are setting the tone to start a spell. For instance, look at all the possible facets of the card then think of your situation. Then pick the card up and start to read the line in this book about that card you want to happen. Visualize it happening and feel that you deserve the change. The main thing about a spell is, after casting, to forget about it, and go about your regular activities. Have fun with magick and see where the energy takes you- the possibilities are endless.

Another way of picking the cards for spells, if you are not sure which one or ones to use, is to take the cards and shuffle them one time then spread them out with the backs facing you. Be silent. Pick a card, this is called your wishing card. This is a good way to pick a card if you are unclear what card to use in a spell. It is always important in a wishing spell to actually wish or to think of a question. Never think about unrelated matters that are unhelpful like what you should fix for dinner or errands you need to run. Always be in the present when doing a wish and ask one question not four or five. Each question or wish takes one card. The Sophia deck is a playing card deck that is used for fortune telling and spells. Based on simple folk magic, the Sophia deck likes to keep life simple. In making a wish keep your wish simple- close your eyes and remember, it is like a birthday wish only you do not turn a year older. When you make a birthday wish you already know what to wish for when you see the candle on the cake, for it is your heart's desire. It is the same when you make a card wish it is a secret desire not to be shared with others. This is your wish and your wish alone. This card can then be used in a spell, if it is a good card. Pick up your Sophia deck or a deck of playing cards and hold it in your hands then look carefully at the deck. Go through it while opening your inner mind, but be very quiet. Start to decide what kind of spell you want to do.
What cards are calling to you? which card seems to appeal to you?! What does this card mean when you use it in a spell? Look it up. This is a good way to choose what card you may want to use in a spell. This is called "letting the card pick you" and it is a psychic way to decide what type of spells you should be casting. Always check to see if this is what you want to use in a spell though. In casting spells do not let the randomness of "let's see what's going to happen if we do this" take over! If there is some sort of influence that you want to create, then make sure this is the card or cards you want to use. When the cards "pick you" and you are not sure if you want to use the cards that you selected in an actual spell, then put these cards out on your altar. A place where they would not be used and see what happens without activating the cards by using a spell. You can start to understand the subtitles of using the cards in this way by being observant.

In spell casting you can change situations, but you can not change people into being something you want. The way magick works is knowing the difference between the two. In some cases magick works in mysterious ways if left alone to manifest. What happened was finally his best friend, who was much more daring, went up to her and introduced them both, even thought they did not know each other. They started to date and had a passionate relationship.
Would they have gotten together without the spell? Maybe, who knows? but it was fun just the same. Later, we both wondered: What if she did not like him after we cast the spell? I mean, she did not know him before she cast it. What if he was a loser? She could have been stuck with him until we did another spell to break them up. So if you are not sure in stating a relationship in a spell, use a lower number card, anything below the five of hearts. Anything that is lower then a five will not have as much of a bang.

I taught my best friends how to cast card spells when I was a teenager. My number one best friend asked for help with a spell, she picked someone who she thought she loved as the focus. On a full moon night we lit a red candle and cast a spell using the ace of hearts and a photocopy of their pictures from a year book. We thought that he was interested in her because at school he would just gawk at her in the halls. He never approached her at all and if she looked at him or smiled at him he would look down at the ground, his shyness paralyzed him. My girlfriend thought that by casting a spell on him he would become more outgoing. The spell did not make him more bold. The reason why is that in casting a spell you have to be honest with yourself. What is it that you want? My friend wanted him to be more aggressive because they were both shy. She thought if he made the first move they would get to together, she was true hearted, but this wasn't the best view.

Pick the card that suits what you want to achieve then concentrate on what it is what you want using the suggestion below. A simple guideline is if you want more love in your life, then pick a heart card. Need more money, then a card from the suits of diamonds. Want opportunities to choose from, then pick a card from the suit of clubs. If you want to cause others problems or to figure out the 'why' of a certain questions, then pick a spade. The most giving cards in spells are the suit of diamonds. Hearts can be to emotional, clubs too serious and spades a little to harsh. Although all of the suits are fine to use. When just starting out, try a spell with a diamond. The lower the number of the suits the lest intensity of the cards in a spell. Anything below a five in any of the suits is really weak and will not bring a whole lot of change- this is OK if that is what you want for beginner spells. If you want to bring events around stronger, then use a card that a five or above. Sometimes you may just want to test a relationship, and if you are not sure if this person is the love of your life, Then pick a card that is lower, like a two or three of hearts. Do not use a ten or ace of hearts, for then you are binding yourself to a situation that will be harder to end. This is especially true for people who are just starting out.

When I need work I light a candle and depending on how busy I want to be I use certain cards. I do not have to do much more. I can do this just putting the energy out there by telling the universe that I can take on extra work . This is for who ever is listening on the astral, so they will give me a call. This is more of a passive spell which is used for people who, like me, are Psychics. I turn inwards to my work. Any home based business or those of us who are self-employed can find success doing a passive, not an action spell.
For anyone who is starting something new, I would suggest an action spell- for those who have been doing their work for a long period of time or who are more inward based, I suggest a passive spell. A passive spell is letting manifestation come to you, not you going after anything. After you cast your spell, you do nothing but wait. An action spell means after you complete the spell you takes steps forward to have what you desire to materialize in active physical ways.

If you want a new job and cast a spell with this invocation "I just want a new job". Chance are you will get a new job, but maybe not the kind of work you wanted to do . The universe will say " Hey you asked for a new job. " "How I am suppose to know, if you do not know what kind of job that you want?!" The universe is right (always) , so do not be vague in a spell, keep focused and direct. In the following chapters, look at what the cards mean.
It is best to be creative with a spell and this is all part of the fun. What color candle should I use? What cards are best ? What type of incense or oil? What stone should I pick? What else should I use? Most important, what is my overall goal? What do I hope to achieve? It is important to remember, if you want to achieve anything in a spell, that if you cast an action spell, then you must take action. If you are looking for a new job, put your resumes on the altar where you are casting your spell. This will charge up your resumes to give them an extra boast to get the desired results that you want. When you send out your resume, then you are thinking what it is that you want. This is what you call an action spell. Magical will work, but only if you help it along.

In spells remember to use the following as a guide line. How you use the cards and what you want to achieve is really up to you. In choosing what is the best to use in a spell, pick cards that are closely related to your desires. One of the best combinations to use are five's and tens, Aces are for intensity so I also often use them in a spell. If I just do not want to have the spell so intense, so that I am more able to control the energy, then I do not use the aces.
The aces are great for a whirlwind spell for stuff to happen so quickly that you can not control the energy. I look at it this way- you are playing with matter and the energy of what is out there in the universe. Maybe you want a little change, but not a dramatic change, it is good to bear in mind that an Ace is not simple. The Ace is not a wait and see card that you add to a spell, it is a power house that may make things permanent. Always make sure that this is what you want before you do your spell.
When I was going to move out of my grandparents home and get my first house, I did a spell with the four aces. I wrote on a piece a paper everything I wanted in a home; trees, fireplace, the home to be the color red and, of course, it had to be cheap. I did the spell visualizing what I wanted and within a month a found what I asked for. A cute little red house with a big tree. a fireplace, inexpensive and of course it was red. Now I used all four aces in a spell, which is why I got what I wanted. Only now, after doing this spell over twenty years ago, I still have a house with a big tree, a fireplace, it's cheap and it is also the color red. Even when I have lived overseas in an apartment in Paris it was gray, but I had a red door. The balcony looked over a park with a large tree, a gas range instead of a fireplace and it was cheap. In Tokyo a had a red brick apartment with a view of a park with large trees, and no fireplace, but I did have a gas range, the element of fire, and it again was cheap. I have decided that this is just the way it is from the long ago spell that I did. I could change my reality and cast another spell to get rid of the one that I long-ago caste, but why? The spell suited my needs then and it still does today. My husband is used to red houses and apartments, so all is well. That is the key in doing a spell- ask yourself: Does it fit your needs and is this what you truly want? The universe wants to give you what you want, but you must be clear in what you ask for. Oh, and it also has to be in line with your True Will.

INTRODUCTION: ARE SPELLS REAL ?

Intent is the beginning of all Spells- the consciousness of what it is that you want or need help with, even how to get rid of something. It is the intent that helps with the focus and the desire to create the true magick and the start of what you want. Having too many desires or intents only clouds the ideas of what is it that you truly want. Is the spell that you consider casting realistic? To spend your magickal energy on casting a spell or to get a job that you are unqualified to perform is not the best way to have a spell become real. Be pragmatic and be methodical.
It is the same with any spell; you cannot cast a spell on someone to love you with whom you have had little contact. It just is not a strong enough connection, especially if you do not have something from that person to bind you two in a spell. I just got a phone call from a client who said "My love spell did not work, but I did everything right!" My client told me that after a couple of days she realized that she did not really want the man, and that she was over him. I told her that her spell did work after all; she had come to realize that casting a spell did not make it into true love if it wasn't there to begin with, yet it could have bonded them. This is the way of spells, be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. My client realized that what she asked for was not what she Willed. Spells help put in perceptive what is it that you really want. Magick is flexible.
"What are you willing to do to really do a "Wishing?"" was what my grandmother said. If you want to improve something, sitting back and making magick will help, but so does action. You need to make a step forward and be brave if you want true magick to happen.
The next step in magick is to banish- you cannot create new unless the old is taken care of. Clean the area where you will perform the spell. Look at it as performance art and you need a clear stage- get rid of all that clutters your mind, heart and soul. Make your banishing internal, do not perform magic with a full stomach, heart, or a stuffed soul. You need to be rested and tranquil your feet planted firmly in the astral plane where magic takes place. This is where you need to clean the space where you do your meditation or your holy spot in your home or garden. I've found that Feng Shui is great to incorporate in banishing. I use cedar bark to burn in my home to purify it and to get rid of any negative influences. One of the key elements in casting a spell is to get a feeling of being centered. It is not to your advantage to be thinking of your grocery list or your pile of things to do when you are ready to cast a spell for something like 'health and well being.' Keeping focused and in tune is the first step in the art of casting a spell.
Remember when you cast a spell there are a few simple rules, "what goes around comes around," and; "do no harm except in dire necessity." It is best to be simple and excited, meaning if you are going to cast a spell, pick one subject not many. If is harder to focus on one thing, if you want general prosperity, that is fine, but if you want a better job, more friends, improved health for a family member, and/or get a great vacation, it tends to get confusing and it is hard to focus on what you want in a way that will manifest it. Pick one desire, not twenty.
It is best to check the phases of the moon. Don't do spells just any old day that you feel like. Here's a simple rule; waxing-to- full moon, new beginnings, on the darkening and dark of the moon - endings.
Some of the best days to do spells are: Imbolc February 1, Spring Equinox March 20th, Beltane May 1st, Summer Solstice June 21st, Lammas August 1st, Autumn Equinox September 21st, Samhain October 31st, Winter Solstice December 21st. Always check a current calendar to make sure of the dates!
The main art of casting a spell has to do with confidence in your self and what you are asking for. If you do not think that you deserve a lasting love, I mean really Will it, then you probably do not deserve one. And you won't.
If you desire one so much that is all that you think about, then you will have gone too far the other way, you'll be pushing it away, your ego steps in and makes it difficult for a spell to work. Ever notice in life that if you really want want want something, that no matter what, it never seems to come true? When you start to let go, things flow. It falls in your lap. You simply cant be so demanding and keep asking why something that you desire is not coming your way. If you don't, it works out, everything seems to go your way when you forget what it is that you 'desire.' You fit with nature and your place in the world flows smoothly and all starts to work.
If you are casting a spell correctly, it will gently come into being as the natural unfolding of your life, in a more positive version. That is, because in a spell you have made an affirmation come into being, one that you hope for. Then, like a birthday wish, if you let go of what you ask for and keep your fingers crossed (or your candle lit) your Will comes true, but never exactly as you think it will be; That is the cosmic humor of spells. Once a spell is cast it is difficult to remove it, you must just let it go and continue on your way. This is true magick, knowing what you want, asking for it, then letting your desire go, for those who understand spells there is a time and place for everything; so just wait. Contemplate carefully. Banish. Light a candle, make a few incantations and watch the world open before you. Then let go and Banish again...We are all the creators of our own reality and spells are the paints we use to alter it to our liking!

I am posting a manuscript that I wrote about casting spells with playing cards, and I hope you will enjoy this weekly series.

INTRODUCTION: ARE SPELLS REAL ?

What are spells, really? Are they the forces that we use to create a new reality to fit desires? Do they really work? Are spells something that only some of us can conjure up, or do they come from a power that is deep and strong within us all?
These are a few of the questions I thought about a lot while I was finishing this book. I believe in spells and I think people should be more open to their use. Some say that magic is dangerous and that we should leave things as they are, and then some of us are different. Take my grandmother, who called spells "wishing," much like making a birthday wish. She thought spells were just that, wishing for fate to change and good fortune to be yours. Some use spells to bring up a dark side to make dark desires true. If you are malevolent, then the dark side can harm a foe. If you decide to use a hex to conquer a hardship then, the dark side turns to light.
Some folks will say that they tried a spell once and it did not work for them. My grandfather would have told them that some have talent and can manifest what they need without doing a spell, he said that this is true "Wishing" . Others say that you should not mess with destiny and just accept your lot in life. I say that it is good to play with fate as long as you follow the rules of magick.
Spells are the subconscious desire and the mixing of elements with incantations, like following age old formulas, much like your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe, in order to have a desired effect come into being. Spells tap into spirits and helpers from beyond to aid in a desire, or at least some think so, they also tap into your psyche. Casting spells is an age old skill and talent used by many, but known to few. In casting a spell you frequently need to have the support of a god or goddess to give you the 'oomph' you need. Picking the right deity is, for some, the first step. For myself, If I am to do a money spell, I might ask for help from the goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of plenty in the Hindu system. Lakshmi does not have much of a wrathful side, so she is a natural also. I would not want to pick a goddess that might not approve of what I wanted and would teach me a lesson. I also would not tell my students that they should pick her to worship. For prayer and devotion to a goddess is a personal choice.
I worship her every full moon, even if I do not ask for dollars or material wealth. She is important because she is kind and loving to those who accepts this goddess; she makes it clear to me what it is important for me to develop in myself. A loving patient side is worth more then finances and wealth. This will occur naturally if I am respectful and devoted, for Lakshmi is real and an archetype of motherly love and giving.
I have been worshipping her for the past ten years, yet it was another who turned me on to her. I was encouraged by a male friend who thought that I did not have enough Lakshmi in my life and too much Lalita Shakti (the young Tantrik Goddess). He noted that I even resembled Lakshmi and that I was attracted to what she represented, only I did not have her temperament, her sweet and kindhearted nature, often enough. He gave me her mantra to invoke her, and I still do so. The aspects of what you want to encourage in your life is what you need to pick or what picks you. This is the first step in invoking the magical way of life.

Who am I: My name is Rebecca Sargent I live in Shoreline with my husband Denny Sargent. Our 17 year old son Forrest has been living in the volunteer placement program since he was 9. The first therapeutic program that our son lived in was Fodor Homes which was closed in 05. Forrest currently lives in Kent. The agency that takes excellent care of my son is Service Alternatives. Forrest also has a very good school program at Kentwood High School in Covington.

I was an employee and shop steward at The University of Washington where I did a lot of union organizing. I also was one of the founding members of the autism summer program or some of you know it better by FAN. I was also a Community Connector. My most recent involvement and training has been through HALO-Soma in Austin Texas. Although this is not “my job” it is my passion to help groups get together and move towards a common goal. We as a community have a lot of ground to cover, so lets get started.

We will be dividing ourselves into four different age groups and a different focus for each group. A leader of each group will volunteer or rock paper scissors stone into being one to keep extra handouts for others who maybe late and may want to join them. The leader is also required to do a summary of their group and post it on Autisismking list or anywhere else they may want to.

Group One. Birth to five: Help and discuss early childhood programs get signed up for all services. The Key is early childhood education through your school district.

Group Two. The public school years: Get the IEP your child needs! BTW: Does your child have ESY? If you need a special education advocate who do you hire?

Group Three. 18- 21 Young Adult: Transitions years. Sign up to vote! You have a right to vote even though you are handicapped! Also, get the most out of your transition program.

Group Four. 21-over Now that public education has ended what is next?

Pet Communication

I recently gave a lecture at Stargazers on Pet Communication, and one of the points I made about our animal friends was that if you sit quietly and send out the intentions to mother nature that you are here to help small creatures that you would be rewarded by a visit of a wild creature. So practicing what I preached I sat on my deck overlooking the park behind my home, and who came out to say hello ? Two feral kittens that were about four weeks old! I saved them from my dog Thor, and I called my vet who offered to foster them. I took them into Cascade Vet Hospital and they were put in loving hands. It is important to understand in anything psychic there is a cause and effect. When you open up the channels the universe will answer your request even if it is a small meow!

Yes, I have just finished the manuscript Spell Casting with Playing Cards. I actually wrote the first, second and third draft years ago to be published with my Fortune Telling Cards: The Sophia Deck. Originally Llewellyn published the cards by Beth Wright along with my best selling book Fortune Telling with Playing Cards, and they were package together as Sophia's Fortune Telling Kit. The cards are out of print, so I have been trying to decide if I should release the book on a smaller print run. Basically that has been the hold up. I get many emails asking the same question, and now that I finally have a Blogg I feel that I can anwser the question. I am done with Spell Casting with Playing Cards and you will be able to purchase my latest book through my website in the coming months.

Greetings everybody & bright summer blessings!

Im sitting in my yurt and pondering how amazing this cyber world is-
For many years now (decades!) I have enjoyed the interactions I have with all my friends and clients- and I have been seeking a way to open up this dialog- So! I have decided that it is time for a Psychic Sophia Blog and here it is!

I currently have no plans for a book so will be focusing my writing on thios blog and hope it will be of interest and that you will respond with ideas, questions, comments and sharing stories of the power and joy of developing psychic awareness and skills
